A man exiting a MTA bus just outside of the Rivergate Mall in Madison, Tennessee, was struck by a mini-van this morning, causing fatal injuries.

Police have yet to release the name of the deceased but did state he was on his way to Conference Drive to sell The Contributor newspaper, which is predominantly sold by Nashville’s homeless and former homeless.

The driver of the mini-van has not been cited and was reportedly obeying the 45 miles-per-hour speed limit at the time of the collision.

One Teen Pedestrian Killed, Two Injured in Nashville Collision

Police are investigating a weekend crash that claimed the life of one Nashville teen and sent two more to Vanderbilt.

Tennessee State Police are reporting Alexis Lopez-Rodriquez, 20, was believed to be under the influence of alcohol when his 2003 Honda Accord ran down three teens on a Tusculum road sidewalk shortly after midnight Saturday. Following the collision, TSP report Lopez-Rodriquez fled the scene, failing to report the accident or render aid to the injured teens.

THP reports identify the deceased as 15-year-old Kevin Bautista. Injured were 16-year-old Rene Mendez, JR., 16 and Kevin’s brother, Jonathan Bautista, 14.

Following his release from Vanderbilt, Lopez-Rodriquez will be taken into police custody on two counts of vehicular assault, one count of leaving the scene of a fatal crash, and one count of vehicular homicide by intoxication. Police are not ruling out the possibility Lopez-Rodriquez intentionally ran down the teens.
