Madison County Wreck Claims Life of McKee Woman
Kentucky State Police report 53-year-old Betty J. Smith was killed Tuesday morning after colliding head on with a SUV, injuring one other driver.
Reports state Smith, of McKee, was traveling north on Ky. 421 in Madison County when her Mitsubishi Eclipse went slightly off the right shoulder. In an attempt to redirect the vehicle, Smith overcorrected, crossing the median and striking the SUV.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, Gregory Hackworth, 49, of Irvine, was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital where he was listed in fair condition Tuesday evening.
