Police Search for Identity of Driver Involved in Fatal I-24 Accident

Tennessee Highway Patrol is asking for help in identifying a driver who is believed to have sparked a fatal collision on I-24 in Nashville Monday evening.

Newschannel5.com is reporting Leesa Almond, 39, of Clarksville, was fatally injured when her vehicle traveled into oncoming traffic, striking two cars. Police believe Almond was forced into the opposite lane when a third vehicle crossed into her path, causing her to swerve to avoid a collision.

26-year-old Jeffrey Holleman, one of the drivers that collided with Almond, was injured and taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition. The second driver to strike Almond was uninjured.

THP is asking anyone with the identification or location of the driver of a white 2007 GMC pickup, Arkansas tag number 864-RMD, to contact the fatal crash investigators at 615-862-7738.

Preparing For My Trial, What Options Do I Have?

Preparing a case for a trial by jury often takes a long time.  Many judges now require parties to a lawsuit to try to settle their case before going to trial.  One method of negotiating a settlement is mediation.  In a mediation, an impartial third person, such as a senior attorney or retired judge, helps the parties to reach an agreement to settle the case.  Mediation is often an inexpensive and efficient way to settle claims; however, if the parties cannot agree on the terms of a settlement, the mediation is not binding and the parties may continue to pursue their claims in court.

Auto Accidents Effect More Than Just The Injured

In Tennessee, when a spouse is injured due to another’s negligence, the other spouse may have his or her own claim for loss of consortium.  Consortium includes the right of each spouse to the company, society, and cooperation, affection and aid of the other spouse.  The claim includes loss for material services, as well as companionship and sexual relations.  If your spouse has been injured and that injury affects your marital relationship, you should discuss the possibility of a claim for loss of consortium with your attorney.

Always Remember, Insurance Adjusters DON’T Work for the Client

Often times, especially soon after an auto accident, you may be contacted by an insurance adjuster.  No matter how friendly and polite the adjuster may be, you need to keep in mind that the adjuster is not working for you.  The adjuster is working for the insurance company, maybe even your own insurance company, and his or her goal is to pay you as little as possible to resolve your claims.  That is why it is always important to let your attorney communicate with any insurance company representative.
