Tennessee Teen Warns Others Against Taking YAZ® Birth Control Pills
December 21, 2011
A 19-year-old White Bluff, Tennessee, woman is using her story to warn others of the risks of taking the birth control pill, YAZ®. According to MSNBC News, she suffered from a severe blood clot in her lung several years ago after she started taking the medication to help with painful menstrual cramping.
The woman says that three years ago she started taking the medication and almost immediately began to feel the side effects. She says that she was constantly throwing up and it was getting harder to breathe by the day. Finally, when she began to have terrible chest pains, she went to the hospital where doctors were puzzled by her condition. Nearly a year later and numerous visits to different hospitals and specialists, doctors made a connection between the blood clot they found in her lung and her usage of YAZ®.
Now, the woman has joined nearly 10,000 other women nationwide who are suing the drug’s maker because of similar complications. She says her condition has cost her the ability to get a free college education by scholarship at a prestigious university and must live with the condition, as surgery to remove the clot is too dangerous.
The Tennessee YAZ® Drug Injury Lawyers with Hughes & Coleman say some of the other conditions associated with YAZ® include:
- Strokes
- Deep Vein Thrombosis
- Pulmonary Embolism
- Heart Attack
The firm recently discussed these and other dangers that could possibly be associated with the drug in a recent commercial.
