What’s happening in Humphreys County and Hickman County? What can you do if you were affected by the explosion in rural Tennessee? What is happening with our investigation? The video below includes an update from Lee Coleman of Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers.
While the cause of the Tennessee explosion is still under investigation, multiple agencies are working tirelessly to piece together information. These agencies include the FBI and TBI (Tennessee Bureau of Investigation), as well as Humphreys and Hickman County sheriffs. There were no survivors in the area of the blast, and 16 people are dead with multiple injured.
Although the devastating blast killed 16 people, other injuries may be found later. Some reports state that homes shook nearly 15 miles from the explosives plant. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the blast caused the equivalent to a 1.6 magnitude earthquake. While this is a smaller magnitude, depending on the soil type and the current state of your foundation, those in the near vicinity of the explosion may need to get their foundations inspected. In addition to potential foundation issues, debris from the blast was found two miles away. While reports are limited about property damage, the size of the debris field may show that personal injuries are more extensive than originally thought.
