Our Story

Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers was founded in 1985 as a partnership between attorneys Lee Coleman and J. Marshall Hughes. In the early 1980s, both Lee and Marshall were practicing in separate firms in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Lee decided to leave the firm he was working for in 1984 to open his own practice. Shortly after, Marshall joined him, and Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers was founded with the sole purpose to help injured people and their families.

In 1985, Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers was focused on assisting injured victims solely in Kentucky. By 1990, Lee and Marshall noticed calls were coming from individuals in Tennessee who had been injured due to someone else’s negligence. As more and more out of state calls came in, the partners realized out of state victims needed their help, so they expanded the firm to include offices in Nashville, Tennessee, where they were able to serve and represent victims throughout the state.

For over a decade, Hughes & Coleman has partnered with WBKO in Bowling Green, Kentucky to honor and recognize a weekly “Hometown Hero” from South Central Kentucky. Individuals in the community can nominate anyone they believe has served the community in an honorable way. A Hometown Hero is a person who makes a positive impact on the community.

Whether it’s a simple act of kindness that helps another, or a consistent action to help and assist others. A Hometown Hero serves their community and neighbors selflessly and honorably.

You can view the “Hometown Hero of the Week” segment on Tuesday’s 6 and 10 PM news broadcasts. Each month, we select a previous Hometown Hero of the Week and grant them the title of “Hometown Hero of the Month”. These monthly winners get recognized on WBKO and can choose a non-profit for us to donate $500 to on their behalf.

Bike Helmet Program

Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers know the necessity of safety. We know accidents happen, and we want to make sure the communities we serve have access to affordable safety equipment. That’s why we started the Bike Helmet Program.

Bicycle safety is of the utmost importance to our team at Hughes & Coleman and wearing a bike helmet is one of the easiest ways you can help prevent serious injury during your leisure time. We know that helmets can be expensive, so we decided to make them more accessible to our community members.
