Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers was founded in 1985 as a partnership between attorneys Lee Coleman and J. Marshall Hughes. In the early 1980s, both Lee and Marshall were practicing in separate firms in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Lee decided to leave the firm he was working for in 1984 to open his own practice. Shortly after, Marshall joined him, and Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers was founded with the sole purpose to help injured people and their families.
In 1985, Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers was focused on assisting injured victims solely in Kentucky. By 1990, Lee and Marshall noticed calls were coming from individuals in Tennessee who had been injured due to someone else’s negligence. As more and more out of state calls came in, the partners realized they could help victims in Tennessee as well as Kentucky, so they expanded the firm to include offices in Nashville, Tennessee.
Since the expansion, Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers has opened eight additional offices throughout Kentucky and Tennessee. With a total of ten fully-operational offices, injured victims can find us in many of the larger cities throughout Kentucky and Tennessee, including Lexington, Louisville, Elizabethtown, Clarksville, Murfreesboro, Columbia, and Gallatin, and, though we continue our plans for growth and expansion, if we aren’t in your area, for your convenience, we will travel to you, no matter where you’re located in Kentucky or Tennessee.
For over 40 years, J. Marshall Hughes and Lee Coleman have worked together to build Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers into a law firm that not only helps victims recover compensation, but also informs them of their rights throughout the legal process. With billions recovered for clients and dozens of experienced attorneys, the firm has demonstrated its commitment to achieving meaningful results for injured victims throughout Kentucky and Tennessee.
In October of 2022, after decades of dedication to the firm and its purpose, J. Marshall Hughes decided to take a step away from practicing law. Lee Coleman helped facilitate a graceful and swift business shift and became the sole managing partner as well as majority owner of the firm. Lee embodies the Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers purpose of helping injured victims and their families. He is actively involved in day-to-day business functions, meets with clients and their legal teams, and ensures all aspects of the firm continue to run smoothly and efficiently.
Beyond legal representation, Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers remains committed to giving back to the communities we serve. Through our Hometown Hero program in partnership with WBKO, we recognize South Central Kentuckians who embody the spirit of service and dedication to their neighbors, donating $500 monthly in a hero’s name to support local nonprofits.
Mr. Coleman is now the Managing Partner and majority owner of Hughes and Coleman Injury Lawyers, a firm he co-founded in 1985 with J. Marshall Hughes. The firm has grown for over 40 years, and we currently have over 30 attorneys and multiple offices across Kentucky and Tennessee, as well as an affiliate firm in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Mr. Coleman’s efforts and accomplishments have been widely recognized, including being named as a Kentucky Super Lawyer in Personal Injury since 2012, and being awarded an AV Rating, the highest rating given, by the nation’s preeminent Attorney Rating service, Martindale- Hubbell®.
Andrew graduated from law school in 2017, completed and passed the Kentucky Bar Examination, and then launched his career as a lawyer working at Hughes & Coleman. In his years as an attorney, he has witnessed the underhanded tactics insurance companies use to coerce injured victims into taking a lower settlement than they deserve. Far too often, the initial insurance offer barely accounts for the personal loss that a client currently feels, and it certainly doesn’t project or account for the additional loss they will have to manage for the remainder of their life.
At Hughes & Coleman, Benjamin utilizes his desire for helping others to fight for the results his clients need. He understands that when someone is injured due to the negligence of another, their life can be turned upside down. Day in and day out, he maintains excitement for his future as a personal injury attorney and his ability to serve his community alongside the rest of his Hughes & Coleman family. Being able to see first-hand the passion his father and younger brother have for helping others and getting to work side by side with them is the highlight of Benjamin’s career.
