Lauren McAplin Miller

Lauren is a zealous advocate who has a passion for assisting those in need. Lauren is results driven, she is dedicated to her clients and will work diligently to reach a positive outcome on each case.

Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Lauren earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Kentucky. Lauren went on to receive her Juris Doctor from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School where she graduated in the top 10% of her class. During Law School, Lauren was an active member of the National Black Law Students Association, holding an executive board position for the southern region, and participated in the Frederick Douglass Moot Court competition.

Prior to joining Hughes & Coleman, Lauren worked as a Child Advocate Attorney at the DeKalb County Child Advocacy Center in Decatur, Georgia. During her time at the DCCAC, Lauren represented children who were abused or neglected in all aspects of their dependency cases. Lauren was also an attorney with the Reynolds Law Group, LLC and has represented the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services as an Associate Special Assistant Attorney General in Clayton County, Georgia.

In 2019, Lauren was recognized by the National Black Lawyers as a “Top 40 under 40” lawyer. The National Black Lawyers is a professional honorary organization that recognizes individuals based on their leadership, reputation and performance as a lawyer. Membership is by invitation only and recognizes the top 40 attorneys in each state who have demonstrated excellence and have achieved outstanding results in their respective practice areas.

In her spare time, Lauren enjoys attending concerts and training for her next “Tough Mudder” run. Lauren is also member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.
